Information about deionized water
Deionized water (fully desalinated water – hardness ~0° dH, conductivity <10 µS/cm) is also referred to as demineralized water, deionized water or distilled water.
Deionized water is free of salts or their ions and therefore has a lower conductivity than drinking water. Fully desalinated water strives to saturate itself with minerals, so it extracts these minerals from its surroundings.
Aluminum is already passive at a slightly acidic pH and is subject to base corrosion at pH values around 9. The hydrogen formed in the process dissolves the soft metal. In the case of the cleaning pistols, the aluminum body of the Selecta pistol is attacked here. For this reason, when using deionized water, care must be taken to ensure that only cleaning guns made of high-quality stainless steel are used.
Information on material 1.4404
The material 1.4404 used in this high tech cleaning gun is highly corrosion-resistant and is used, among other things, when using deionized water.
Properties of 1.4404 (X2CrNiMo17-13-2), AISI 316L, (V4A)
Austenitic stainless steel. Application: Mechanical components with increased demands on corrosion resistance, especially in media containing chloride and for hydrogen. AISI 316L is used in a wide variety of areas, in the pharmaceutical industry
(manufacture of RDTs = cleaning, disinfection and drying machines), in medical and dental technology, as well as in swimming pool construction, as a ring earth electrode in construction technology and for the production of press fittings for gas and water installations.
